Terms of Sale

These Terms of Sale apply to every order placed through the Luma website. Please read them before you buy. Your use of the website itself is governed separately by our Terms of Use.

1. Placing an order

Adding items to your cart and completing checkout is an offer to buy, not a completed contract. Your order is accepted — and the contract formed — when we send you a shipping confirmation email. Until then we may decline or cancel an order, for example where an item is out of stock, a price or description was listed in error, or we suspect fraudulent use.

2. Prices and currency

All prices are shown in Canadian dollars (CAD) and exclude applicable taxes and shipping unless stated otherwise. Taxes and shipping are calculated and displayed at checkout before you pay. Prices may change without notice, but a change will not affect an order we have already accepted.

If a product is listed at an obviously incorrect price, we are not obliged to supply it at that price. We will contact you, and you may confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund.

3. Payment

Payment is taken in full at checkout using the methods shown there. By submitting payment details you confirm you are authorised to use that payment method. Payments are processed by our payment provider over an encrypted connection; we do not store your full card details.

4. Shipping, title and risk

Orders are packed within 1-2 business days and delivered in 2-5 business days across most of Canada; remote and northern addresses take longer. Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees, and we are not liable for delays caused by carriers, weather or events outside our control. Full detail is on our Delivery & Returns page.

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Title passes once we have received payment in full.

5. Cancellations and changes

We can usually change or cancel an order before it enters packing. Contact us through the contact form as soon as possible with your order number. Once an order has shipped it cannot be cancelled, but it may be returned under our return policy.

6. Returns and refunds

You have 30 days from delivery to return an unused item in its original packaging. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items are replaced or refunded at our cost. The complete terms, exclusions and process are set out in our return policy and on Start a Return.

7. Product descriptions and variation

We describe and photograph products as accurately as we can. Colours may appear differently between screens, and natural materials — glass, rattan, bamboo, stone, timber and woven fibre — vary in grain, tone and weave between pieces. Such variation is characteristic of the material and is not a defect. Dimensions are approximate and subject to normal manufacturing tolerance.

8. Electrical products and installation

Hard-wired lighting must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical code. Bulbs are not included unless the product page states otherwise; use only bulbs of the fitting type and maximum wattage specified for the product. Do not modify a fitting, its wiring or its components. We are not liable for loss or damage arising from improper installation, modification, or use outside the product's stated specification.

9. Warranties

Products are covered against manufacturing defects. This does not cover normal wear, accidental damage, misuse, improper installation or care, or the natural variation and ageing of materials described above. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any statutory rights or guarantees that apply to consumers under Canadian law and that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the amount you paid for the goods concerned, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Promotions

Discount codes and promotional offers are subject to our promotion terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms of Sale are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
